Position:                               Shelter Manager

Status:                                   Non-Exempt (Full-Time)

Position Summary:            Manages the direct service staff response to victims as well as the systems of communication and organization utilized by direct service staff.  Shelter Manager must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment, including potentially violent situations.

Shelter Manager shall:

1. Maintain positive, solution-focused approach to service provision.
2. Maintain clear and professional boundaries while monitoring the ongoing climate of the advocate staff.
3. Prepared to provide feedback/guidance on all areas of advocates job expectations and document plan of action or corrections if needed
4. Embrace trauma-informed approach to service provision and train staff to empower and support victims
5. Assist with developing/facilitating children, youth and adult groups including a range of topics, for example:goal setting, safety planning, self-esteem, healthy relationships, job readiness, budgeting etc.
6. Responsible for oversite of all program outlines, implementation and evaluations.
7. Oversee transportation and accompaniment to appointments for victims
8. Oversee Crime Victims information and forms in cooperation with Legal Advocate
9. Oversee case management for residential and non-residential victims
10. On-Call to assist Advocates with any questions related to victim programs
11. Notify Program Coordinator (Supervisor on call) of any violent crisis situation or other incidents
12. Collaborate with Program Coordinator, Advocates and Victims on programs and evaluate ongoing needs and respond by recommending options (Children/Adult), shift changes, etc. to ensure programming remains Victim Centered
13. Work collaboratively with Community Response Teams & Program Coordinator to stay involved with programs, policies and procedures
14. Oversee Victim administration file quality assurance to maintain compliance with contractual obligations
15. Ensure completion of training of direct service shelter employees regarding all services policies and procedures including documentation, safety and confidentiality and privilege requirements, empowerment based service provision and all other minimum standards for domestic for programs. This includes meeting annual training requirements.
16. Communicate with Program Coordinator about the volunteer opportunities in direct service programming and ensure volunteers feel welcomed and valued while providing services
17. Attend staff meetings and/or workshops as required
18. Will conduct intakes residential and non- residential and orientation to the shelter for victims of domestic violence and/or sexual assault
19. Provide input for policy & procedure manual as required
20. Provide feedback on direct service staff to Program Coordinator for performance evaluations and any needed counseling
21. Provide advocacy services for clients regarding police, medical and legal resources
22. May provide crisis intervention services as required on the hotline or face-to-face and complete required documentation
23. Promptly complete assignments and documentation as required on day-to-day basis
24. Other duties as assigned by the Program Coordinator.

6. Maintain and support a culture of staff wellness by creating a professional rapport in working relationships, displaying appropriate and consistently positive attitude, and remaining composed during stressful situations.
7. Always employ strategies of problem solving and smart, efficient solutions identifying new and improved ways of delivering the highest quality services to agency clients.
8. Ask for assistance when needed.
9. Maintain client and agency confidentiality and client privilege at all times.
10. Maintain knowledge of current family violence and sexual assault laws.
