Job Description
Position: Volunteer Coordinator/ Organizational Trainer
Status: Non-Exempt – Full-Time
Responsible to: Program Coordinator
Purpose: Position is responsible for training of employees and volunteers while ensuring training is in compliance for all grant requirements. Will oversee structured volunteer recruitment, orientation, training, retention and coordinating the Sexual Assault Training Program (SATP). This role will be available to provide direct services to survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault and their families. Provide a range of services to residential and non-residential clients. Must be able to exercise discretion and independent judgment. To assist in furthering the mission and services available at the Crisis Center while enhancing the positive image of the Crisis Center in the community.
Responsibilities:
- Perform needs assessments, short-time resources, referrals, case management and legal advocacy to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault
- Support and back-up answering phone
- Support and back-up Shelter Coordinator to ensure shelter coverage
- Provide crisis intervention services on the hotline and/or face-to-face
- Facilitate client’s basic needs including access to forms and information
- Perform wellness checks and safety planning at each point of contact with victims including face-to-face and telephone contact
- Foster a positive working relationship with all Crisis Center staff
- Provide support to groups as appropriate
- Assist with training of volunteers
- Attend all required meetings and training sessions
- Maintain clear and professional boundaries with clients
- Notify Shelter Coordinator (Supervisor on call) of any violent crisis situation or other incidents
- Promptly complete assignments and documentation for client services
- Compliance with funding contractual obligations
- Maintain documents and relationships for the SATP (Sexual Assault Training Program)
- Coordinate and schedule required SATP training for new hires and new volunteers
- Ensure all training is in compliance with grant requirements for the agency
- Develop and maintain all center training, initial and on-going training
- Recruit and establish training for volunteers, specifically for hospital advocacy
- Maintain and coordinate all Crisis Center volunteer services
- Develop a volunteer outreach plan to reach potential volunteers in innovative ways
- Coordinate on-going volunteer appreciation/retention strategies
- Act as liaison between volunteer and Crisis Center staff to solicit feedback re: program needs and volunteer potential
- Develop and maintain volunteer opportunities and relevant job descriptions
- Conduct volunteer recruitment for all volunteer service needs
- Maintain minimum volunteer training requirements including 10 hours of direct service training for direct client service volunteers
- Originate and maintain volunteer personal information files to include training records and accreditation requirements
- Help develop Community Outreach informational pieces to include: Social media, newsletter, brochures, website etc.
- Collaborate with the Community Education Coordinator for public speaking/volunteer recruitment opportunities
- Assist with fundraising efforts as needed
- Perform related duties as assigned
- Other duties as assigned by Program Coordinator and/or Executive Director
Qualifications: Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Skilled in organization and able to work well with others in a supportive and cooperative manner. Must be able to work independently, be comfortable speaking in public, and maintaining professional relationships in the community.
