Welcome to the In Her Shoes Virtual Experiential activity! For this activity, you will be transporting yourself into someone else's shoes, to see what you would do if you were having their experience. In order to create more time for discussion and allow you to process the experience better, you will be doing the activity at home/work prior to the training time.
Please be sure you give yourself about 45 minutes to do the activity, and have minimal interruptions.
If you are not able to do the exercise prior to the training time, please register for another training. We will be using the time to discuss the stories and debriefing the experience.
As you go through the activity, we encourage you to take some notes, write down your thoughts, and bring your questions to the debrief training. We will process the experience and dig a bit deeper into why people don't leave, the impact violence has on other choices, and how systems support or fail individuals when we meet on zoom.
A few questions to contemplate as you go through your story:
* What barriers does your character experience when seeking safety?
* Who is the most helpful/hurtful for your character to find safety?
* What would make it easier for your character to find safety?
* What agencies did your character utilize? Were they helpful or hurtful?
If you have any technical issues, please email mickinze.vanherpen@graysoncrisiscenter.org or text 903-471-0644 and you will be helped as soon as possible.
Please double check your character from the email.
